About the Speaker

Alex Cheng is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and has had varied experiences in the telecommunications, ship repair, shipbuilding, engineering and manufacturing industries spanning a period of more than 35 years.

He started his career in a local firm specializing in audit and tax before joining Keppel Corporation Limited, one of Singapore’s largest conglomerates in 1990. He held various positions within the Group, including Treasurer, Vice-President Administration and Director of Keppel Philippines Holdings, Inc., Keppel Philippines Marine, Inc., Keppel Cebu Shipyard, Inc. and Keppel Philippines Properties, Inc. – companies that are listed on the Philippines Stock Exchange. The Keppel Philippines Group was ranked amongst the most admired companies in the country and held the distinction of being the first ISO 9000 certified ship- care facility in the Philippines.

Upon his return to Malaysia, he was involved in the construction and deployment of telecommunication infrastructure such as telecommunication towers, monopoles, unipoles, lampoles, etc in the telecommunications industry.

He was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for OCK Group Berhad (OCK). During his tenure with OCK, the company won various awards including the Golden Bull Award (100 Outstanding SMEs) for 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. The organization also won the much-coveted First Prize at the Nanyang Golden Bull Awards in 2012. He left OCK in 2014 to pursue personal interests.

He is presently the Chief Business Officer of Uneeqon Sdn. Bhd., a boutique consulting company specialising in providing business growth strategies and advisory services.
